School is Back in Session!

Drivers,

School is back in session, just a friendly reminder to stop for school busses that are loading or unloading kids!

The law provides that all vehicles must come to a complete stop for a school bus that is loading or unloading child passengers.

Motorists are not required to stop for a school bus where the bus is stopped on a four lane highway and there are at least two lanes traveling in the opposite direction. But the only vehicles that are permitted to continue driving past the school bus must be on the opposite two lanes of the road.

This is a Petty Offense, however, it IS NOT eligible for Court Supervision. The only available sentence upon a finding of guilt is a conviction.

A conviction WILL suspend your driving privileges for three (3) months. A second offense within five (5) years will carry a one (1) year suspension.

To avoid a loss of your driving privileges, you must be found not guilty after a trial or have the charge amended to a moving violation that does not carry an automatic suspension.
